I am not aware of any selection that I've unintentionaly made, but a 'My
Computer' Window appears open on my desktop at the end of every start up.
(nothing in the 'Start Up' folder to request it)

This has happened once some time ago, but disappeared again without
explanation.

Not the Worlds biggest Windows problem, but can anyone help explain so that
I can stop it ?

There are other locations from which programs can "automatically" start up.
You can get a comprehensive list using msconfig (Start\Run, enter
"msconfig", click the Startup tab)
