I recently bought a Pen D945 which was supposed to be a 950 for virtualization. ASUS Motherboard P5RC-LE I installed the CPU, the computer powered up but never went to POST, the screen blank, and only the processor fan was running. Could I have a defective processor or am I missing something?

You have to upgrade your bios

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericSoftwareDownl...

Download from that link and install it on the board. You will have to boot it with the celeron that came with it to do this. Or you might be able to extract it and use a bootable floppy or CD to do it but either way you will have to boot the motherboard with a processor that works in it to do this.
