My case is in a desk cubby and my monitor is on the corner of the desk. I am using a plastic lawn chair for a seat because I am a broke college student. I have all components connected to a power strip behind the desk which is plugged into the wall.

When I stand up out of my chair as I take my first step, about once or twice every week the computer will crash and reboot. It is always at the exact same time as I exit the chair. I cannot figure out how to stop it. I figure it has to be a static shock occurring somewhere, but do not know where. Has anyone every experienced this?

Yep, definitely have. First, I'd try getting rid of the plastic chair, those are really bad for static. Also, try to stay as far away from the computer when you get up (this will reduce the risk of shock). Then if it still crashes, we will know it is more likely what jitpublisher said (loose cable).
