Router Help

Hello,

I've got a problem that I'd be very grateful if someone was to help me.

I cannot access from my browser my router configuration 192.168.2.1 from IE 7 despite being able to access the Internet. As a result of this I cannot change my settings to ensure my router is password protected or rename it.

I have tried practically everything in command prompt such as ipconfig/ all and ping 192.168.2.1. Pinging was initially successful however now it fails stating that "Request Timed Out" I have re-setted the modem, router countless times but to no joy. Could someone help me please

I am running Windows Vista and my router is a Micradigital WLAN. If I need to paste my IP settings etc. could someone please tell me how to do it from command prompt?

Thanks very much in advance

More about router help
  1. According to your ipconfig dump, you’re NOT connected to a router:

    IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 82.43.113.162(Preferred)
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.248.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 82.43.112.1

82.43.113.162 is a *public* IP, not one that would typically be assigned by a router (e.g., 192.168.2.100). That's why you can't reach your router's administrative interface @ 192.168.2.1. You're not on the router's network but connected directly to the Internet w/ a public IP.
  2. Thanks, that makes sense, do you have any suggestions as to what I should do next?
  3. "I am running Windows Vista and my router is a Micradigital WLAN"

You mention a router (Micradigital WLAN). Can you provide a specific model #, a link to the product, anything, so I can see what this is, I'm not familiar w/ it. At this point I just don't see a router in this configuration. If you do have a router, you should be configured as follow:

    [modem](lan)<-- wire -->(wan)[router]<-- wireless -->[pc]

Does this look like your setup?

    I am using a Belkin Micradigital Wireless Cable/DSL Router * 54 Mbps 802.11g F5D7230

    http://www.hotukdeals.com/images/deals/40302.jpg

Sorry I am not sure if that looks like my setup. If I can give you anymore info please ask.
  5. I assume the following is your router:

    http://www.micradigital.com/product.aspx?id=25008

But that's just the router. It needs to be connected over its WAN port to a dsl or cable modem. That's an important piece of missing information. What is it connected to?
