I am using a the asus p7p55-E pro motherboard and I read in the manual that I need to connect the cpu 4 pin connection. I bought a cooler master heatsink and it only has a 3 pin connection so it won't work on the 4 pin cpu fan connection. Is it ok to just connect my cpu fans to a 4 pin peripheral connection since I have the adapters and my board does not have enough 3 pin connections?

You don't have to have a 4-pin connector to plug into the 4-pin CPU fan slot on the motherboard. Your 3-pin connector will work just fine and connecting it by the 3-pin is the way to go!

The fan works as tecmo34 already said but you will not have fan speed control.
