APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: February 1st preferably.

BUDGET RANGE: $3000us before Rebates

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: 3d rendering (Mental Ray/Renderman), Adobe CS4, Gaming.

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Windows 7 pro 64bit, need everything else including monitor and speakers.

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: www.tigerdirect.com & www.newegg.com, I'll order from any other cheaper & reliable source though.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: USA, Los Angeles

PARTS PREFERENCES: Intel

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe later

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1200

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: This system is built for some heavy duty Mental Ray and Renderman rendering with Maya, as well as playing Computer games smoothly.

The 8 cores and 16 gb ram are meant to increase 3d application rendering speed, while the card is targeted for gaming.

I don't know much about cooling, so I need advice on that as well as a monitor. I have a 24" viewsonic for my other machine that I am very happy with. I also need a good router (doesn't have to be wireless) so that I can hook both my computers up to the internet.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, especially for cheaper and better parts.

^ Good selection of the CPU and the mobo...

Some suggestions...

1. Mobo - For $5 more, you can get a better rated ASUS board(but you would have to add an audio card though)
ASUS Z8PE-D12(ASMB4-IKVM) Dual LGA 1366
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

2. RAM - I would suggest 2 of these kits...Will allow room for further RAM upgrades...
SUPER TALENT 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM ECC Registered
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

3. Definetly a better quality PSU...
SILVERSTONE ST75F-P 750W - Has 2x 8PIN CPU power required for the server boards with dual CPU, modular and Silverstone Quality...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

4. HDD - The Samsung F3s would be better...

Thanks gkay09.

I'll go with the following:

COOLING - Intel BXSTS100A Active heat sink with fixed fan - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
$29.45

SOUND CARD - ASUS MIO-AUDIO 888 MIO Sound Card - OEM
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681...
$34.99

I am curios about this sound card, from what I read it's the only SC that's compatible with this board. Yet I only found one negative review about it at newegg.

I might end up reverting to my original MOBO choice (SUPERMICRO MBD-X8DAi-O), since it comes with it's own sound card, has more USB ports and boots up faster. I am wondering, why do you think the ASUS Z8PE-D12 is superior?

^ The ASUS board are more efficient than that Supermicro board...
But the issue with the sound card, is also very annoying...Now even I feel you could switch back to that Supermicro board...but do check out its reviews in other sites too...

Thanks gkay.

I'm doing research right now but I haven't found a satisfactory answer yet regarding the MOBO. I'll post again once I have a solution. Thank you for all your help!
