Hybrid drives

Dear all

I am speccing a new build.

Boot drive willl be an SSD

However , I am considering a hybrid drive, for storage . Specifically, one of the seagate models. Momentus, is it?

The thing is though, as it will not be a boot drive, is there any advantage in using such a drive, just for data? Will the SS front end on the drive act as a huge cache, or have little effect at all?

Any facts /opinions?

General consensus is that for just storage it is hardly worth the money! A couple of smaller normal drives in raid 0 would beat it in performance.

Thanks for that. You seem to confirm my suspicions.

I think I will just build with the SSD and wait for the spinners to fall back in price then add a couple .
