Sometimes PC Freezes.Why?

I have :
1)Radeon 4850
2)Mainboard ASUS
3)Core 2 Quad
4) 700 watt power supply
5) 4 GB RAM (Dual channel)
6) Windows XP (Pro)

Problem :
- Sometimes when i play games my pc crashes(freezes) and music continues
like a beep.The pc not restart.I must do it manually.
- When i connect my external hard disk and i transfer data from external sometimes happens the same as before.
- My last problem it happens yesterday with a friend's external hard disk(external power).When I plugged the external drive my screen started to flicker.

Check that the default voltage for your RAM is sufficient with your RAM's voltage needs.

Mainboard : ASUS P5QC
RAM : 2 X Corsair CM3X2048-1333 C9DHX (1.65 V)
I tried memtest and everything was fine.
I noticed that when my computer is off it sounds a noise from the power supply like to hear the stream flowing.

Have you tried a different video card to see if you get same problem.

sounds like memory problem to me.

I had same problem when I built my first computer it kept freezing at odd times especially when trying to play games. tried everything flashing bios, updated chipset drivers ,reinstalled windows. tried different video card.
The problem, I'd put memory in wrong slots. should have put them in slot 1&3 not 1&2. computer works perfect. what a plonker.

Ram are in the right place. The other positions are for the DDR2

I tried memtest86 (everything ok), prime(CPU Tester - Everything ok),prime and same time benchmark 06 for 4 hours (everything ok).
