No the IGP is not worth it if you have a graphics card. Though if you think you might take the card to a different computer some time then if you have H55 you would be able to run off the IGP.

Have you already bought the i5 661? What is your reason for this processor? It is made specially not to be used with a graphics card as it has a better IGP then the others. If you haven't already bought it I would suggest the i5 750 or maybe a AMD build if you can swing that way.

I havent bought anything yet.

My current system config:

C2Q6600, DG33TLM Intel MoBo, 4GB 800Mhz ram, Nvidia 8600GT

I am looking to buy a processor Mobo for some hardcore gaming.

I may buy a new card if required. So i was looking for a processor with IGP.

ALso the cost of i5 750 is quite higher than i5 661.

Hello.

Ok lets see, your 8600GT is completely fine with your Q6600. You will not find any performance increase in gaming by getting a new processor.

Therefore if you do not have the money to upgrade the graphics the same time as everything else, then you should not upgrade. Instead you should just upgrade your graphics card to a GTX 460 or something similar. Though you may have to upgrade your PSU while your at it. Then upgrade the rest of your system when you get the money.

Another reason to do this is that the new processors from AMD and Intel are coming out soon. So since you have missed most of these generations you should wait for the new processors to avoid having a weak processor in a year.

If you want to upgrade now then AMD is a better choice, you will be able to upgrade to the latest Bulldozer CPUs and they have boards which support DDR2 which you have.

Also the i5 6XX are not gaming CPUs. They are much more expensive then an i3 530. An i3 530 is your best choice for an intel CPU.

Why do you need IGP if your going to be using an 8600GT?

Thanks.

Well i have a 500W PSU a local brand.

Also i will be buying a complete set DDR3 ram + Mobo + Processor.

So i guess its better to wait until Q4'10.

500W OEM PSU is pushing it for any nice card except a HD 5770 should be good.

So are you building a new PC then?

If you wait you will recieve much more for your money, the 6XXX cards are coming out in November as well.

Yes looks like i will end up building a new one. Will give away the current one.

So just as you said it would be better if i wait till december.

Thanks a Lot...
