One touch external drive

Hello,
I have a Maxtor One Touch external drive that all the programs are gone from my computer.
I have failed to back up several times. I just looked into why it wont load, the computer says it does not exist. Nothing in my programs. How can I access these files I have stored on it?

If you hook it up to the computer, is it listed in My Computer? Are you saying the Maxtor software is not there anymore? Why? Did you uninstall them? You can always just re-install them from the CD, if you don't have the CD anymore, may be able to get them from www.maxtor.com
