I am seeking a way to enable the USB 2.0 driver in Windows XP SP3, installed on a Dell Precision 420. This is ancient hardware (twin P3 933 MHz
cpu's with 1GB of ram (rdram)). The I/O control hub is an Intel i82801AA (ICH). I am hoping I am not fighting a lost cause.

That hardware predates USB 2.0. The onboard USB ports are v1 only.

Thanks foir the answer. I have a Via USB 2.0/1394A combo add in card
. If I installed this after making sure my drivers are up to date, is there a chance I can succeed, or am I limited by the Dell MoBo?

That will work. But keep in mind that the PCI bus only runs 133Mhz so you won't realize full USB 2.0 speeds.

Again, thanks for the assist. At this point, short of replacing the PC (setting up a new machine and reinstalling all my software, ugh!) this is my best bet.
