Not Sure How to get 1600 Mhz Out of RAM

I am trying to get the full speed (or close) out of the RAM I put on my Motherboard.

Short Story: I bought the "wrong" RAM for my AMD board and need a little help going into the BIOS and adjusting settings to get it running at full speed.

RAM:G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM
Newegg Link
Motherboard:ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard
Newegg Link

It is currently Running at 1333Mhz and it is rated to run at 1600Mhz. From what I have gathered elsewhere, the highest speed and timings these modules can run on an AMD board is: 1600 Mhz 8-8-8-24 2T @ 1.60 v.

The Problem: I have NO IDEA what I'm doing. I sorta understand that faster Mhz and lower latency is better but I have no idea what settings in the BIOS to change to make it run at its fastest. [Yes, I know... it was stupid to buy something that wasn't advertised to work with my mobo but it was a phenomenal price and it is my first build, so forgive me.]

I have included the screen caps of the BIOS and my current settings from CPU-Z. Please help me by telling me which of these settings should be changed and to what setting/number/option. If you need more information please just say so and I will provide it. Hopefully with the full genius power of TH, I can fix one of the last true "problems" of my machine!

More about 1600
  1. well you found where to change the settings in your bios... now just select what you want your ram to run at, i see its on auto... you want 1600mhz, select it

same idea with changing the timing and voltage
  2. Hi.

In the 1st BIOS picture, only change the 1st four values for 7-8-7-24 and leave the rest in auto.
  3. Ok, so:

    On the first picture:
    TCL: 7
    TRCD: 8
    TRP: 7
    TRAS: 24

    Then in the last pic,
    Set DRAM Frequency to "1600"
    and DRAM Voltage to "1.6"

Is there anywhere to change it from 1T to 2T? Or will that set automatically? Or is it already set to 2T?
  4. The 2T works in auto.
