Old house / plaster walls

I am planning to install a network with a dual band n-router so that I will be able to stream movies to our home theater. My concern is that the network hub will be on the second floor and the home theater is on the first floor of an older home with plaster walls. Do you know of plaster walls creating reception problems within the network, plus being located of different levels of the house. What dual-band router would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

You may be all right -- homes with foil insulation and metal beams are probably the worst but wireless is really a convenience and cannot really be relied upon so I would investigate the wired option for your project.
