Hi,

When I go to

Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs> Add/Remove Windows Components

I recieve the following error...

"System stand-alone Optional Component Manager has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

More Info shows this...

Error signiture---------------------------------------
AppName: sysocmgr.exe AppVer: 5.1.2600.2180 ModName: setupapi.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 0006105e

I first noticed this after installing SP2 on a fresh XP Pro install.

This is a Windows XP Pro box with SP2 and all updates installed except the
..NET framework update. I have scaned for viruses and run system file checker.

any help would be greatly aprecieated. Thx in advance.

Wally
