hi i want to up grade my inspiron 530 dual core e4500 @ 2.20ghz
to a quad core how do i know what cpu is compatible with my motherboard?
i also have GeForce 9500GT Video Card and a 550 power supply 4g of ram can u help me?

Well the E4500 2.2GHz is an Intel Core 2 Duo manufactured on a 65nm process, and thus, you could probably upgrade to 65nm Core 2 Duo E6000 series processor.

it did come with quad cores so you should be fine, however there is a slight chance that it may not be set up for the quad you would like to use. the only way to know is to ether find a stock inspiron with that processor or contact dell, good luck with the second option. that said i highly doubt you will have an issue

yes yours didn't come with a quad core, but it was an option on that model so the bios should be set to accept one

first you wanted to get a quad core now your looking at a dual?

yes a e6xxx should be fine though I don't think that they would be a worthwhile upgrade.

You should be able to upgrade to a Core2quad of some variety without trouble.
