Hello All,

I am in need of a new pc and I have decided I want to build my own custom system. I have taken three different computer classes ranging from basic knowledge to building to networking so I do have some knowledge; on top of this I have read a lot of tutorials and done my fair share of research. I am in need of a new pc because I have had my pc for 7 years, yeah since 2003. Here is what I have:

(I had made some changes: new case/power supply, more ram, dvd drive, etc.)

Long story short, there are many problems wrong with it today, just going to leave it at that.

I have come a long way in deciding what I want. I was originally going to build around christmas yet I read on numerous sites about the new i3 and i5 cpus coming out January 2010 along with the h55/57 mobos so I decided to wait, bad choice. To put it simple I have read many places the i5 661 (what I wanted) is not worth the money, more smart if you will to buy the i5 750 or i7 860, and it's aimed more for businesses and htpcs. Thus I had to start over. However I had been researching on what I wanted long before I heard about these cpus so I just feel back on the earlier i5 760 & i7 860.

Here is what I have and need help deciding:

OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit System Builder Software

CPU: i5 760 or i7 860

MOBO: ASRock P55 or ASUS P7P55D or ASUS P7P55D Pro or ASUS P7P55D-E

HDD: WD Caviar Blue 500 GB 7200 RPM (16 MB Cache) SATA or
WD Caviar Black 500 GB 7200 RPM (32 MB Cache) SATA

RAM: At A Lost - Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2 GB DDR3 1333 ?

Case: At A Lost - Antec Three Hundred ?

Graphic Card- At A Lost

My Budget looks to be between $500-600, possible $700; I know that's not alot.

Please Help!!!

If your computer is for gaming you won't be able to put a i5 or i7 on it. Your budget is a kind of low for that, at that budget you should be looking at athlon II x4 620, or phenom II x3. For today programs and applications you will probably need to change you ram for 4gb.
The antec 300 is a great case. The samsung f3 500gb is faster than both of the hd's you selected and cheaper.

I forget to mention what I do on the computer, video gaming ( a few examples of games I have played- dragon age origins ,unreal tournament 2003, spore, sims 2, sims 3, maple story, rappelz, WOW), and multimedia applications (photoshop CS3, Sony Vegas, Sony Acid, fruity loops)
I plan to save more money as I would like to raise me budget.
