I'm having problem with an ATI HD 4850. ATI Overdrive and CPU-Z both indicate the GPU clock is only 165 MHz. I guess I don't understand how this card is supposed to work. Shouldn't it be running at 625 MHZ at all times? Or is it some energy saving feature in this card? The card is in a computer with:
Intel i5-750 with Cooler Master Hyper TX3 and Arctic Silver 5 Corsair DDR3 1600 2x2GB Corsair 650HX PSU ASUS P7P55D Pro XFX HD 4850 1GB DDR3 with Cat 9.12

I think the 165 mhz clock is the card running in its low power 2D state. Try running a 3D intensive task, alt tab out of it and run cpuz again to see what clock its running at.
^+1 try stressing your card with play some heavy games and see it again on cpu-z or gpu-z.
Hey thanks for the replies! I tried a 3D game with the card, and sure enough the clock speed increased. So, it looks like 165 MHz is the 2D, idle speed. Thank you both for your help.
