My Build:
MoBo: Biostar TForce TF8200
CPU: Phenom II 940
PSU: Corsair 650W
RAM: 4 x 2GB Corsair XMS2 240 Pin DDR2 800
HDD: 640GB Western Digital 7200
160GB Western Digital 7200
Video: XFX Radeon 4870 w/ 1GB RAM
Case: Antec 900 w/ 5 Case Fans
Optical: Lite-On DVDR
Surge Protector: Belkin (2655 J Rated)
This system has worked fine for roughly 4 months with the current build. PSU and MoBo are roughly 1.5 years old. Everything else is newer.
My Problem:
I live in an old building which apparently has a weak electrical system. Power outages seem to occur often. After three of these outages (all in the past two months), my system would not boot up. All fans still worked fine, but the system would not post. The first two times, I was able to fix the problem by re-seating power cords connected to the MoBo. Unfortunately, this has not worked this time around. I have tried re-seating everything, including all power connections, video card, RAM, and CPU.
My Questions:
What could be wrong with my computer?
Should I invest in better power protection?
Thank you for any thoughts on the issue.
