hi,

i had a 9800GTX and i bought a 5850.

i have played a lot of bf2 and was looking forward to carrying on playing it.

i reinstalled bf2 recently due to upgrading to an SSD (Intel X25M-G2)..and it had been working fine..

then i installed a 5850 and when i click on the bf2 icon it just CTD's without even a splash screen?

i pulled out the 5850 and put the 9800GTX back in, bosh, bf2 runs NP..put the 5850 back in and instant CTD.

i've been messing around with drivers and have not had any luck..

everything up to 9.9 is pre-5850 anyway and trying to install these drivers meets with a 'no compatible hardware found' etc, so i'm kinda limited to > 9.10

i've tried 9.10, 9.11, 9.12 and the "hot fix" 9.12..

all with the same result..

has anyone heard of any similar problems or could suggest a possible fix?

bfbc2's gonna be out REAL soon and i'll prob be playing that to DEATH for the next 3 years, so this is kinda gonna be bypassed by that event, but this SHOULD work!

there's no reason for bf2 not to run on a 5850!

sys: Q9400, 2gb, X25M-G2, XP-SP3, X-fi fatality..

i've only got a 400w psu, but i've very little running on this sys (i even disconnected the original, now secondary, maxtor 27w drive, to no difference). the 9800gtx peaks at about 150w and the 5850 peaks at approx 180w)..kinda thinking thats a bit of a red herring, but i have a 500w psu on order anyway..

any thoughts gratefully received :sol:

@delluser1 + wa1..thx for reply's..

i didn't think i would have to completely reinstall the game just for a new graphics card, but i've just returned after doing so and it made no difference..

double click on the icon, screen goes black, waits a few seconds, then desktop..

this is weird..
