Hello,
I just bought the Corsair GT 240 SSD and put it in my ASUS Sabertooth X58 mobo. I put it in the grey SATA 6GB/s slot, I'm using the included SATA 3 cable, and I set my computer to AHCI but using Crystal Disk Markit's only running at 300 mb/s which if I remember correctly thats the cap for SATA 2. The SSD is rated for 555 mb/s I know the 555 isn't going to happen but atleast 400 should be easy. So any and all suggestions as to why its capped at 300 mb/s would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
Your Mobo seems to have Marvell Sata 3 Ports. They are known for being capped somewhere at 5Mbps and being less reliable than the Intel Ports. Besides buying a true SATA 3 PCI-E card, I don't know what you can do to improve your speeds.
