So, being quite tired of using my family's 8 year old dell computer to barely play games on I have taken upon the task of building a computer. I have a friend who can help me build it, so the only problems are I don't know the differences between parts and know almost nothing about computers.

I will be trying to make the purchase as soon as possible, and its all around $1500 but i can wait if needed and get a slightly better computer that will I be able to play games on longer.

My first priority is gaming, and while I like a wide variety of games, it will mostly be MMORPGS. I really want a computer that can run WoW and Warhammer Online at max with good fps.

My preferred websites for parts would be newegg.com and tigerdirect.com.

I don't know if I will over-clock, but if it will increase my gaming experience I might try.

I plan on using two graphics cards, so i will use crossfire or SLI (I believe they are both what means to be able to use more than one graphics card, correct me if i am wrong.

I would appreciate absolutely ANY advice and information because I am still pretty new to computers and I am still undecided about these parts and willing to change things around.

I plan on using this stuff for a while, so value is extremely important for these few parts.

Sorry if i put too much info, it is my first time posting on a computer hardware website such as this. Please respond with any information, as it would be greatly appreciated.

Change the CPU to the i5 750, as it is a better gaming CPU. I think you made some kind of mistake choosing an external harddrive over an internal one. Samsung Spinpoint F3s and Seagate Barracuda 7200.12s are amongst the best performing HDDs and I think the 1TB versions are cheaper than that external.
I would advise getting the ATI 5770. You will really be needing the second card for that rez.
I'm not very keen on that PSU, altho it could be a good one; I haven't done the research. I'm sure that if you looked at newegg you'd be able to find some combos with some of the components you're looking at get yourself some good deals. The components you should be looking at for good combos are case, PSU, mobo, RAM, GPU & CPU.
As far as I'm concerned that RAM is overpriced for what it is; you can get some really good 1333mhz, low latency, low voltage RAM off newegg that is only $3 more expensive. G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1333 CAS 7 1.5V $114

thanks silvune i'll look into all you said, and thanks especially for correcting my hard drive mistake. i would of ordered it and never known the difference until i tried to build it.

I should also have said that 650W is plenty for crossfiring two 5770s, so if you go 5770, the PSU you'll need should have two 6-pin PCI-E power connectors. If you go 260 a 700W + power supply would be better and it'll need four 6-pin PCI-E power connector. If you do some research into that PSU or I get round to it or someone else verifies it then it should be fine, but some brands that I know are good are Antec, Corsair, OCZ, Thermaltake, Seasonic & Cooler Master. Ones I've heard are good are Arctic Cooling, BFG, FSP, Gigabyte, Mushkin, PC Power & Cooling, Silverstone, XFX & Zalman.

Just a quick search in newegg this combo looks quite good, and you'll be able to save some money, with saved money you can try to get better GPU like 5850 this change would increase you gaming experience.
Combo deal: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.311727
That combo has few minuses, like HDD is quite slow, but you can get an SSD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167025 for 129$
Just use it as system drive and install your most played games on it, and loading speeds will be quite fast compared to any HDD :)

GPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131184 289$ +Dirt2 included.

might find more good combo deals there, that would let you save money, gaming machines main priority is good GPU. and yeh, i5 750 would be better cpu that i3 and it's easy to oc it, and that might give you some boost while gaming.

as for windows go with 64bit edition, otherwise you will lose some RAMM cause 32bit "supports" only 3gb.

All pc with my suggested parts is 1494$, and this machine would blow anything that you would throw at it :)
