Radeon 5870 and AMD Phenom 9600?

So I am looking into purchasing a Radeon 5870 to replace my Radeon 4830. Right now I have a Phenom 9600 BE running at 2.3 Ghz (the revision of the Phenom I have is very temperamental when it comes to overclocking, so I have just set it back to stock speeds) and want to know if my cpu will be a bottleneck for my performance gains I should be getting with the new card?

Also, if my Phenom is going to hamper my performance gains, would getting something along the lines of a Phenom II 955 be enough to unleash the potential from my new card?

It's going to hamper, it's smart to go with a phenom II 955, remember to update bios and try to get the phenom II 955 C3. The C3 one undervolts/overclocks better. A phenom II 955 will be as good as i5 in 7/10 times in gaming but slower in other stuff

Ah, okay. Think I will go ahead and get the 955 then, since I don't want to spend the $410 for a new card and not be able to run it to the full capacity.

Thanks for the reply ubernoobie!
