Hi All,

I have a Dell 5150 and it has run perfectly since I received it 6 years ago. Now, I would like to upgrade the processor.

Inside is a:

SL7Z9 Intel Pentium 4 630 Socket 775 3.0 2M 800 CPU
X300 D3A27 Video card (A ATI Radeon X300SE).
305Watt (H305N) Power Supply.

I would like to get a GOOD HDMI video card with possibly TV CAPTURE Capabilities. Now the bad part. I am not a dummy, but rather a Mac Person from the beginning of Apple. I do understand PC's and Windows XP and the removal and replacement of components. However, I don't know what goes with what. I don't want to FRY the computer as it has worked great since I bought it.

Here is more detailed info from Everest.

The Motherboard is a Connolly E187242 F2.
Chipset Intel Lakeport-G i945G
Supported Memory Types: DDR2-400, DDR2-533, DDR2-667 SDRAM.
64 Bit
4 GB I have DDR2-667 Installed. (2-2GB)
Memory Controller - Dual Channel (128-bit)
Memory Voltage 1.8v

Integrated Graphics Controller - Intel GMA 950
I also Installed a PCI-E 1.0 x16 3D Accelerator (ATI Radeon x300 SE 128MB HyperMemory Video Adapter)(RV370)

BIOS Type - Phoenix
BIOS Version A04

Power - 305 w. I can upgrade this if I need more power.

I also have 1 or 2 open slots for the new HDMI Video / TV card if needed.

Thanks Again, Brad.

The Q6600 is I think the best CPU for the LGA 775 socket. Though, as you've said, you need to upgrade your PSU to handle it.

Ultimately though, I'd suggest you simply save up for a new CPU. Or is there an urgent need for you to upgrade now?
