How to assogn a drive to a usb mass storage device

Hello,
I have a usb mass storage device (drive) connected to my laptop via a USB to IDE device. The computer know the a device is connected but it does not show up on the drives list. What can I do?

lets see......if i remember correctly its control panel/system and security/administrative tools/computer management /disk management. from there you should be able make it work i had the same issue so i changed the drive letter and it worked fine. hope this helps
