Can I reinstall windows xp oem on harddrive that has windows xp oem already inst

I have windows xp oem installed on a c: harddrve. xp has become corrupted. can I reinstall same oem halogram dvd on that
harddrive? when I boot off the dvd, the first screen asks what do you want to do. 'install xp" is grayed out and when i click
on it, it says version on dvd is older than version installed. i can do nothing but quit. please help. thanks rick

You will get that warning because the Service Pack level on the DVD is lower than installed on the hard drive. You should have the option at some point to format the drive and start over.
