For a gaming rig that can play games at smooth frame rates at high settings, not possible for $400, better off getting a console which is actually ~$600 worth of components for $300.

I did a bare minimum build yesterday and it was ~$465 with the lowest hardware I'd use.

thanx for reply.

I don't need a kick a$$ graphics card, just something to get me by till I have the funds. If I can get somthing decent together, I'm trying to buy in few days. I just need a good mobo with lots of life like the one above and a decent cpu everything will be upgraded later. thanx for any input.

(oops, sorry i didnt read the last part)

Good basic Mobo $65
4 gb Basic RAM $85
Basic CPU $57
Basic Case $40
Basic PSU $40
Basic Optical Drive $23
Shipping ~$30

That's Bare minimum, using cheapest parts, and it's at $340 AFTER MIR before the GPU.

Considering the quality of parts you're using, you'll get better performance from a console. Bare minimum card to play games at a decent frame rate is a 4850, $99.

Anything lower and its worse than a console.

It's a waste of money to buy parts now and then replace them in a few weeks or months. Just save your money until you have ~$600 and then you can get a decent rig.
