RAM compability Tags: Memory Latency RAM Last response: September 4, 2010 11:27 AM in Memory Share arkacom September 4, 2010 10:06:51 AM Hello, I have PC with this configuration: MB: Asrock Extreme3 X58 CPU: Intel i7 930 RAM; PDP PATRIOT Extreme Performance Enhanced Latency Gaming Series - Memory - 6 GB : 3 x 2 GB - DIMM 240-pin - DDR3 - 1600 MHz / PC3-12800 - CL9 - 1.65 V - unbuffered - non-ECC Triple Latency Timings CL9 ( 9-9-9-24 ) I want to add more RAM to my PC and i'm thinking to buy this RAM - OCZ Gold XTC Triple Channel Kit - Memory - 6 GB : 3 x 2 GB - DIMM 240-pin - DDR3 - 1600 MHz / PC3-12800 - CL8 - 1.65 V - unbuffered - non-ECC Triple Latency Timings CL8 ( 8-8-8-24 ). The main question is: are these RAMs will work together due to different latency timmings and how about compability? More about : ram compability davcon a b } Memory September 4, 2010 10:47:29 AM They should work together however you're better off buying something with the same latency. From what i understand the new ram will only run at CL9 anyways when paired with your Patriot kit. makwy2 a b } Memory September 4, 2010 11:27:16 AM Davcon is right, the new RAM will downclock to try to match the other set of sticks. Honestly though the performance difference would be so slight that I don't think you'd really notice. I'd say go for it! Can't find your answer ? Ask !
