Hi everyone. I'm really having a hard time choosing between 880 gm le and 785gm. So I signed up here. Great forum.

Which of the two is better especially in the igp field? The 880gm le has a built in 4250 while the 785gm got only 4200 but comes with a 128mb side port memory.

I'm just planning to use igp waiting for high end dedicated gpu price cut down. Hahaha.

Please help me decide. Thanks.

There is no great difference in the IGP performance wise, toss a coin.

Is that so? Follow up question, will the side port memory still be used for hybrid crossfire config and will a dedicated card make use of it too? Thanks for the direct to the point answer. Maybe will toss a coin later. :kaola:

I do not know the answer to the hybrid crossfire but it will not be used with a discrete card running on its own.

I see. But there must be a pinpoint difference between these two. One must be faster than the other. I must figure it out. Thanks man!

Maybe an article like this will help you figure it out http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-890gx-radeon,25...

Thanks for the link man. I had a headache reading all it and still couldn't decide which board should I choose. Haha. I'm pretty sure you have much knowledge about computers than me. So if you are to choose, which one? I'll go with your pick. :p

If I am looking at the right boards, it looks like the 785 has a better sound chip wit 8 channels versus 6 on the 880 board.

Actually I'm choosing the older models of both boards. Cheaper. Hehe. Here's the side by side comparison of the two.

No difference in the sound chip so I would go based on price.

Yup. The only difference I can see which is of a big deal to me is the igp since I won't buy a dedicated card for the mean time. So, it's hd4200 with 128mb side port memory VS 4250 without sideport memory.

ps. Ahm... about the audio thing, is the difference between a 5.1 and 7.1 noticeable if one will only use a 2.1 sound system?

No it is only noticeable if you want to have expanded surround speaker setup.

I looked this up and on wiki I found this.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_CrossFireX
I have an HD 5670 so I got the Asrock 880GM LE because it is said to do hybrid cross fire with my graphics card. I haven't tested it yet because my CPU hasn't got here yet.
I will post my findings after I get it up and running.
