hi
i need a new graphic card and can't decide which to take
the hd 4870 or 5770. i have pcie1.1 so does that matter if i choose for de hd5770?

Solution

PCIex 1.1 is the same in terms of performance with the PCIex 2.0 . Get the 5770 and be happy with it.
No video cards even use all the bandwidth of an x16 slot, pci-e 2.0 isn't necessary.

I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to that. All I know is that the memory bandwidth of 1.2gb/s is quad pumped thanks to ddr5 which gives that 4.8gb/s value. Not sure if using pcie 1.1 would noticeably affect the performance at all.

Welcome to the forums!

Where are you getting the 4.8 GB/s value from?
I am guessing you somehow mistook the 4.8Ghz effective data rate for the GDDR5 as how fast the card can transfer data across the PCIe bus??

In any case, defiantly get the 5770.
There will be NO decrease in performance running it on a 16x PCIe 1.x slot.
There is still more than enough bandwidth available to run any current GPU on PCIe 1.x.
