Hi,

I recently built my first computer, and have decided to OC it to a sensible amount (some ware in the region of 4.2). I though I would be safe rather than sorry and have purchased the - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO.

Just a few questions for people that know about temps better than me!

1. Is the thermal paste that comes with this fine to use? or is it sh!t?
2. What is the usual temp drop from a heat sink like this?
3. Is it a good buy for the price? £23 or $35

I have an AMD FX-4100, Asus M5A97 Motherboard and Corsair Vengeance Memory 8GB

Cheers

1. It's fine.

2. I was able to get my son's friend's 4100 to 4.4 Ghz with a TX3. The 212+ will keep the CPU about 3-5 degrees cooler than a TX3, so you could go a bit further than I did if your chip stabilizes with the the same voltages. (Don't remember the exact voltages, but I do remember its voltages weren't noteworthy either way)

3. It's not a "steal" at that price, but it's still a good buy.
