Nvidia nvs 420 third monitor conflict

Hello,
i'm running dell 390 wrksttn, xp, 2 gig,basic setup. it runs two displays, but try to activate third
is when i get conflict.in
"set up multiple displays" select graphics card dropdown, it has two selectiions "1 of 1" and "2 of 2" i cannot activate "2 of 2 ". is this my conflict.

Are you sure that the card can support three displays? Or perhaps you've reached the limit of your card, even if you're using "only" two monitors. What are your monitors?

This is a quad display card that uses a break out cable from a single connector.

This is a fairly common problem with activating third or fourth monitor. Try updating your drivers and any OS updates if noting happends but the same problem you might look into an rma of the card.

i solved that problem by replacing the nvs420 with a matrox 450mms which has no issue running 4 displays.
