Hello, I have a WD Elements external HD and want to use it to back up my internal HD on my old Dell Dimension 5150. Apparently Windows XP has a software backup utility but that's not been installed on my Dell. I'm an old duffer and not very PC savvy but can someone explain simply how to go about getting the driver? Or is there an easy to use and understand free program available? All I want to do is have a backup of my data and be able to have a (say) weekly update of the changes. Any help gratefully received - many thanks Roy

The backup program in XP is more of a legacy tool for people who have existing backups from NT4 or Windows 2000 setups. It shouldn't be used for creating NEW backups.

There's a plethora of backup programs out there. If your needs are pretty basic, one is probably as good as the next, so pick one of those.
