Is 550 PSU enough?

INTEL i5-750 CPU (O/C @ 4Ghz)
4GB MEMORY
500GB HARD DRIVE
RADEON 5850 - 1GB GRAPHICS

Will 550 PSU be enough?

Better yet, is this a good buy?

More about enough
  1. 550w is plenty for that system, especially if it is a quality PSU.

In the specs it says 600w. Is that the power supply in the deal?

    "Powersupply
Recom 600W 80plus BRONZE Power Silent Powersupply"

That? I think that's the one which comes with it, could be wrong.
    Does it make any difference?
And also, since they've overclocked the CPU what would this mean? Will they cover for costs if it degrades, or provide me a warranty for that?

Also what about the cooler? Will that be sufficient?
  3. 1. System requirements

    http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/ati-radeon-hd-5000/hd-5850/Pages/ati-radeon-hd-5850-system-requirements.aspx

    3. For what to pick......find something here:

    http://www.silentpcreview.com/Recommended_PSUs

    or here

    http://www.jonnyguru.com/

Here's my rule of thumb w/ jonny ......If you gonna run "stock" w/ one GFX card, be happy with an 8.5 jonnyguru performance rating......add a 2nd card or moderate OC, go to a 9.0 rated unit, moderate OC's and a 2nd card .... 9.5 ..... and twin cards, serious OC's, I'm looking for a 10 rating.
  4. 550w for for the PS is plenty, provided that it is a quality PS.

    This is my current system:

    i5-750
    4GB GSkill 1866 ripjaws
    Asus 5850
2x 640GB WD Black HDD in RAID 0
    Corsair H50 liquid cooling
    Asus DVD
    3x fans
    OCZ Fatal1ty 550w 80plus certified

my system runs great without any problems whatsoever. You should be fine.
  5. The one problem that I have with the jonnyguru reviews is the "Esthetics" rating.

First, it's subjective. Second, it's a freakin' power supply. It's going to live, mostly hidden, in the top or bottom of a case.
  6. You should be okay.

Here are the official power requirements for the ATI Radeon HD 5850 and HD 5870 video cards.

    ATI Radeon™ HD5850 System Requirements:

PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard

500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75 watt, 6-pin, PCI Express® power connectors.

600 Watt or greater power supply with four 75 watt, 6-pin, PCI Express® power connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode.

    ATI Radeon™ HD5870 System Requirements:

PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard.

500 Watt or greater power supply with two, 75 watt, 6-pin, PCI Express® power connectors.

600 Watt or greater power supply with four, 75 watt, 6-pin, PCI Express® connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode.

The power supply recommendations are for an entire pc system.
