ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: My build (on paper) is Core i5 750, ASUS P7P55D-E PRO, Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 (? wait for 5830), Antec Earthwatts EA 750 power supply, Corsair XMS3 DDR3 2x2GB, WD caviar black 500GB, and Coolmaster Cosmos full tower.

I think you're buying Windows 7? That'd put you under $1000 for the hardware. In this case, I recommend AMD.

You can pick out a HD TV tuner card, but IMO, it's best to buy a small HDTV which is what I did. 26" at 720p great for gaming & TV & movies (unmatched by any monitor). The only minus would be fuzzy text. I don't think you're upgrading the monitor.

It's a price issue. For gaming, the most important component is the GPU. So by going with AMD, you save a good $100, all of which can then be directly spent on the GPU. This gives you better gaming performance.

Since you don't need Windows, up the GPU to an HD 5870 for an additional $100.
