I am considering building a desktop like this:

How flexible is your budget? Here's a build that comes in under $700, but doesn't have the option of adding another GPU in Crossfire.

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders - OEM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6832116754 $104.99

Total - $682.87 - $45.00 MIR's

With the possibility of these parts for adding another card.

OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ700MXSP 700W $79.99 - $25 MIR w/promo code EMCYZNW76, ends 2/3

Athlon II X3 435 + Gigabyte GA-MA790GPT-UD3H combo $164.98

The above add $45 to the build so it's slightly over budget.

With the monitor and keyboard, I'm estimating around a $900 purchase. I would have to go through the trouble of building it and getting to run properly. I have absolutely no experience with this kind of stuff.

I am also look at this laptop:

Intel® Core™2 Duo mobile processor P7450
Features 2 processing cores, 1066MHz system bus, 3MB L2 cache and 2.13GHz processor speed per core.
2 high-performance processing cores
To run multiple demanding applications simultaneously without hesitation.
4GB DDR2 memory
For multitasking power.
Multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support
Records up to 8.5GB of data or 4 hours of video using compatible DVD+R DL media; also supports DVD-RAM.
16" LED-backlit LCD high-definition widescreen display
With 1366 x 768 resolution showcases your movies and games in stunning clarity.
320GB Serial ATA hard drive (7200 rpm)
Offers spacious storage and fast read/write times. 1 E-SATA connection for added convenience.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M graphics
Features 1GB DDR3 video memory for lush images. HDMI output for connecting to an HDTV. 2 built-in speakers with Creative Audigy HD support.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

It is an Asus, and comes with a 1 year warranty. Would the laptop provide similar performance to the desktop?
