Missing wireless adapter on HP laptop after reinstalling Windows XP

I reinstalled XP 2002 sp3 on a HP compaq nc4000 laptop. The wireless adapter is not listed in device manager, but a Broadcom adapter is listed in the installed programs list. I have ran install new hardware & tried to manually install the adapter from a disc but no luck. The ethernet adapter is listed & is functioning so I can access internet on it but I need the wireless. It seems to have vanished - any ideas?

  1. Download the driver pack for your computer from HP -- or go to the Broadcom website which may have a newer driver.
  2. Thanks! that did the trick...now to get it set up correctly. I can't seem to connect to my home network...if its not one thing its another
  3. Probably wireless security passphrase -- check router setup pages.
