Y cable = Extended desktop

I've heard that a y cable dvi to dvi + vga will give an extended desktop, not a cloned screen. I'm sceptical myself but I was told that nvidia drivers allowed this to work

The first link is the guys posts, the second link shows some pictures, note the dvi heads, not dms59 but dvi!

I'm aiming for a triple monitor setup on a single 8800 gt. There's two heads so dual monitor works but would like to join the elusive triple monitor club
