I was just curious if it is normal for the cpu temp to jump 30 C when beginning to run the Prime95 stress testing utility? It hasn't risen anymore but i just thought that was quite a spike in temp. I am holding steady at 59 C. Intel i5-661 and asus p7h55d with 4 gb gskill ram

Yes that's about right, in a cool room with a stock cooler and stock clocks. Prime95 will typically stress your CPU more than any real-world app.

it climb as high as 63 C after 30mins and i stopped it didn't want to burn up new cpu. I read you should run for 24hrs but i don't feel comfortable with that. thanks for the reply though.
