Turning on rocker switch on PSU shocked me

and now my system wont boot, pretty sure i fried my cpu, its plugged into a batter backup, surge protectors aint worth a damn and battbkup will protect from sags or brownouts as well, its a brand new PSU, the only thing that changed was i put my unit on top of the batt backup due to space limits, ive been workin with computers since 94 and A+ since 99, any ideas

More about turning rocker switch shocked
  1. Bummer! Happened to me once about 5 or 6 years ago. Loud bang and blue electric light scared the heck out of me.

What brand and model psu do you have?
  2. Try plugging the PSU (and system) directly into the wall. If it still shocks you, replace the power cord.
    The cord might be bad.

If it still shocks you, move the system to an outlet on another circuit.
The original outlet might be bad.

If it still shocks you, replace the PSU.

Once you fix that problem, take a look at our standard checklist and troubleshooting thread:

    and work through the contents.

Odds are that your CPU is OK.
