Ga 990xa ud3 support am2 processor?

was going to buy an am2 processor to flash the bios for my am3+ if it did not come with the latest bios revision.

No, you'd need an AM3 CPU, not an AM2 CPU. AM2 won't work on any AM3/AM3+ board that doesn't have DDR2 support and that's pretty much all AM3/AM3+ boards. You could get something such as a cheap little AM3 Sempron if you end up needing to flash the BIOS, but from what I've read, that's been getting better.
