Hey all, so I've just returned my third UD7, tech support has only been able to tell me to keep sending them back with no other solution :fou:

This issue has been that the mobo will turn on but not post or do anything after the lights turning on (the post code thing on the mobo is fully lit up and does not change no matter what configuration of hardware I have in there)

So the question is (unless someone knows wtf is wrong with the ud7,) what new mobo should I get?
current hardware:
i7 950
6GB 1600 ddr3
2x EVGA 460s (upgrading at some point down the road)

thats about it for what I need to fit on the new mobo!

ASUS P6X58D-E is what I've been seeing as the current top contender, but I'd like to hear from you guys/gals!

1) I would make sure you completed all the items in this check list before returning the motherboard. It is just a second review to make sure it isn't something else that is wrong.

2) As replacements, I vote for the P6X58D-E, Premium or EVGA X58 FTW3. You won't go wrong with any of those three... IMO

The GA MOBO's have issues with SSD + HDD ~ assuming that's the issue, and overall I have been sadly disappointed with them.

Choices:
High Budget
$380 - EVGA 170-BL-E762-A1 / X58 4-WAY SLI Classified XL ; note *
$380 - ASUS Rampage III Extreme
$350 - EVGA 141-BL-E760-A1 / X58 3-WAY SLI Classified ; note *

Mid Budget
$289 - 132-GT-E768-KR / X58 EVGA X58 FTW3
$299 - ASUS Rampage III Formula
$269 - P6X58D Premium {the Premium is worth $30 over the P6X58D-E}

{*} Unless your SSD is faster than 300 Mb/s (e.g. C300 CTFDDAC256MAG-1G1) use the SATA2. Neither of the 3-WAY/4-WAY SLI Classified MOBO have SATA3 nor USB 3; instead most of the technology is geared towards the GPUs + OC; you can add a SATA3 card if needed.

deja vu...

Awesome link tecmo, I did go through it and no dice!

I'm pretty sure I'll go for the P6X58D Premium...

I would go with the Premium over the Rampage III.

All of my gaming rigs are built off the EVGA MOBO's; of the (2) ASUS the ASUS Rampage III Formula {Rampage series} has more power and is better suited for 4+GHz OC, and P6X58D Premium is very good otherwise.

It's less about "us" and more about what you're needs are for your build.
