i just finished building my rig a few days ago and i had a couple of question about overclocking my cpu (total newbie).
First thing: my hardware list
Cooling: corsair h100
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-3930K@3.2GHz
Motherboard: ASUS Rampage IV Extreme X79 (BIOS 3010)
Video: two way-sli Galaxy GeForce GTX 680 4GB
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 64GB (8 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-17000CL11Q2-64GBZLD
SSD1: OCZ Vertex 4 VTX4-25SAT3-256GB
SSD2: OCZ Vertex 4 VTX4-25SAT3-256GB
SSD3: OCZ Vertex 4 VTX4-25SAT3-256GB
SSD4: OCZ Vertex 4 VTX4-25SAT3-256GB
HDD1: 1Tb SATA-III Western Digital Caviar Black
PSU: Rosewill LIGHTNING Series LIGHTNING-1300 1300W
Case: Thermaltake Chaser MK-I
Monitors: ASUS PA248Q Black 24" 6ms (GTG) Widescreen LED Monitor(1980x1200) and two older dell(1600x1200)
OS:Windows 7 ™ Ultimate 64-bit SP1
i intend to do a little bit of everything with my pc ( CS6, video editing, 3d rendering, backup everynight and of course gaming)
i did a little bit of research and tried to OC my cpu to 4.3 with everything on auto and it seemed to work well. but i am unsure on how high i could go. 4.5? 4.6? i would like a stable OC for 24/7 use.
could i go up to 4.7 for a stable 24/7 use? and should i try to set the voltage manually?
I've also read about multiple good stability test programs what do you guys recommend for stability test?
