HI have just uninstalled windows 7 that was on refurbished PC when I got it and install Windows XP that I am more familiar with. But now I am at "installing windows" point on installation for XP that is saying "Files Needed -

The file 'asms' on Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 1 CD is needed.
Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK.

Copy file from: ????? It says E:\1386"

But when I hit enter it does nothing and I have Service Pack 1 on burnt CD in E: drive. How to I get this working?

It sounds like the XP CD is bad. Or, is the CD/DVD drive a SATA drive? If so, then you need to load a SATA driver or change the BIOS to emulate a PATA/IDE drive.
