hi... i need to figure out the cause of MoBo heating...

this is my friend's rig:
Amd Athlon 64 x2 6000+
4GB Rams
Gigabyte GA-MA770-S3
320HDD
Ati 5670
550W PSU

i have updated the mobo bios to the latest one and i still have the high temperature 50c-80c..

thanks in advance..

If this is a new build, did you use thermal paste installing the CPU? Is the CPU fan working? Is the CPU heatsink packed with dust?

If this happed AFTER updating the BIOS then get back into BIOS and Load Optimized + Save & Exit.

thanks for replay...

-i have cleaned the case twice with my friend and used thermal past and fan working fine @4200 rpm...

-updated the bios and loaded the optimized sitting and saved and exit....reinstalled windows (windows 7 x64 ultimate updated same with drivers)....

even after all still got the heat...

mobo temp:
idle:40c-55c
full load:70c-81c

any ideas? am out of it right now :S

My vote is still on the thermal paste, replace it and while the CPU fan is out clean it. Use 91%+ alcohol on both surfaces (CPU & CPU fan) dry, and put enough thermal paste so it squeezes out - clean excess.

In addition, in the BIOS verify that the CPU fan is indeed on, controlled and monitored.

Poor thermal conduction has got to be the issue, other than OC of the CPU. I assume the CPU fan is running...
