XP Won't Install

Trying to reinstall windows XP and it won't!

I boot from CD, it goes through formatting the disc, copying the files and then shuts down to reboot. On reboot, it goes through entirely the same process and if left to it's own devices , does this again and again and again.

Anybody shed any light on this problem?

The CD should not boot the second time, unless you are pressing a key to boot to it. . .
