I think this is my 2nd thread because on my 1st i didnt get answer so sorry for double posting but could anyone tell me some settings i should set or where could i get with corsair H80 cooling ? I use MSI 990fxa-gd80 MB. I know everybodies chip settings warry but some settings somebody achieved i would like to get to about 4.5-4.9 ghz stable. I tried adding multiplier and voltages but havent been stable etc.

start with a multiplier of 45 (or maybe 44 with a slightly raised FSB)... i'd suggest enabling LLC (load line calibration) and play with the VCore a bit, try 1.4 or so to start (lower may work, my experience is with the phenom II chips)

I have found that with the FX chip a combination of increased FSB and Multiplier yielded the best and most stable results for me. Just keep in mind that the FSB will affect RAM, NB, HT, CPU.

First you want to turn off any power saving options prior to OCing (you can turn them back on later). Then slowing start increasing Mulitplier and FSB. If you turn the LLC up to high or extreme you should probably get somewhere around a 4.1-4.4ghz overclock without really touching the core volts. Remember to set most of your settings to manual, even if you don't actually adjust the settings (i've found that this has helped in the past).

After that it just becomes the slow methodical process to find the highest clock with lowest volts for stability. I wouldn't push core volts past 1.4v on that chip, lower would be even better. depending on your RAM speed you may need more voltage as well. good luck

i was able to get to 4.4ghz @1.38 volts runs stable ran for 8 hours with a max of 54c. gunna try go for abit more when i get time im kinda thinking it must go higher and have some more horse power in there 4.9ghz sounds good but i think ya might have to have some crazy water cooling loop to get that!!

i got to 4.9ghz but only by turning 4 cores off and needless to say it wasnt stable on air cooling.

another thing to whats ur cooling like in ur case do you have any? i.e.. case fans if so how many do u have good air flow? what psu are u using? if u have a stronge rig then u can get up to this setup which by the looks of it u do... if this is ur first time at overclocking then my best advice i could give u would be to watch as many videos on youtube to see how theyoverclock even if there not your own or same cpus or what ever just watching a intel system being overclocked is just the same as a amd system plus it gets u going on the same line!!
if u dont wanna do that then try my settings but like i said they may not work u might wanna try aim for around the 4ghz to start with just dont forget good cooling and try keep ur volts as low as u can .! (MORE VOLTS MEANS MORE HEAT)!

This is crazy. I tried your settings but nothink.....nowhere near stable....well i didnt get bsod but the cores didnt work properly. I had to give it 1.476 volts to be stable....itsnt that insane? And its only 4.4ghz

maybe up the volts a little to 1.36/7 its sounding like u have a bad chip tho. i think its f**ked up that they make them this way to me if u going to make a cpu least make them all the same with out there being a good and bad section..... have u tried to see if ur system is stable with just the defaults so just turbo core? whats ur psu? and u never did say about case cooling? do u have they system in a open space (on a desk) or shut away? (no air getting to it)

I've managed to get 4.40GHz (stable) with 1.44volts with the stock cooler.. i think stew is right, and you have a bad chip.. try contact amd?
