Mouse pointer erratic

Hi my name is christine and my question is my wireless mouse is going all crazy & now the touch pad dont work neither. i've allready changed the batteries on the mouse tried a different usb slot, also reseted the mouse, and stii nothing what can i do? i have windows xp and my laptop is a dell
