Bought Asus Maximus III Gene & i7-875k NEED HELP!

Just istalled these two together everything is working but my core speed is maxed out even at idle at 2.9 and up.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I think it should be around like 1.2 idle right?
Please let me know if you have the fix.

It's only clocked down at lower speeds if you have Intel SpeedStep or C1E on. Check in the BIOS for these options.

i actually did and it was on, i turned it off to see if that would do anything and nothing. what is c1e?

Strange. Check the speed using Real Temp, and make sure you are really idle, which should report the current speed, not what the CPU is rated at. C1E is similar to SpeedStep. Works a bit differently though, not sure exactly how.
