But I just can't find the answer I'm looking for so I'll try asking myself.

Hello guys!
Obviously, I don't know much about overclocking, but I want to try.
I have some suitable equipment to do so(I hope).

So I have an AMD FX 6120, and an aftermarket heatsink: Cooler Master V6 GT.
I already downloaded some software: CPU-Z, CoreTemp, and Prime 95.
The FX 6120 stock speed is 3.5MHz.
I try overclocking it with AMD Vision Engine Control Center, but it only goes up to 3.8MHz, and it just doesn't seem to work because it makes my computer reboot and the clock speeds go back to stock.

I know I have to go into my UEFI BIOS and adjust settings there like the multiplier and voltages, but I'm kinda iffy about it and don't want to make my PC combust or something. :p I want to know exactly what to do.
What are safe multipliers? What are safe voltages? I know I shouldn't go anywhere near 1.5V. Could I get my cpu to go up to, oh let's say... 4.0 at least? Or even 4.4?

I doubt 4.4 would be too stable but I wouldn't mind trying it if it were.

Thanks a lot guys.

Your mileage may vary; every CPU is different. Custom cooling will help since overclocking can push up temperatures, especially if you tweak voltages.

Reset everything back to stock settings. Then start by simply adjusting the CPU multiplier upwards and see how far that gets you. If you are still not satisfied, you can start increasing the voltages, but in very tiny increments.
