I'm shopping for a new LCD TV , what kind of pc connection due i need to watch blue rays and HD movies from my PC to my TV. I'm guessing DVI however the TV i want has a pc input for RGB (analog). My graphics card is a HD 4890 with dual DVI output. Can i just use an adapter on my card " DVI to HDMI" then to HDMI on the TV ?

Thanks for any help

Yes you can do that however, you will need another cable for sound or run the sound through your computer

haha yeah working on that

cuz DVI doesn't carry sound, and all that is going to go through the HDMI is the video

ATI cards have a built-in sound device, nVidia cards need a SPDIF cable to the motherboard for sound.

As far as im aware, no u cant get Full hd from RGB. You either need HDMI to HDMI for full HD and sound or DVI to HDMI for Full HD picture, but you will need to run your sound through an alternate source.

Can you get full HD picture using a DVI adapter from a DVI video card to a HDMI TV conn. ? I no hdmi is sound also" and i already installed a spdif module because my board only had optical out not digital coaxial ,so sound is fine no problems . Just wanted to make sure an adapter will work like i stated in the first post. Thanks for your help .

Yes, DVI to HDMI adaptor will definatly work for the picture. That is how i run my own as i like to run the soud through an optical surround sound system. I also (if you dont already have it) that you get the correct software for your graphics card. That way you can alter the picture size to fit your screen on your tv.
